Books
Prior
to the diagnosis, Marcy was not a very eager reader. Once she knew
she needed to know more, she began reading a few books at one time.
Here is a list of the books Marcy found most uplifting and helpful.
Clicking
on the cover or the title links you to amazon.com where you can
read more about the book and order it if you like.

The
Jesus I Never Knew.
- a great way to get to know Jesus from a different, more complete
perspective. Rob is studying this book and its video supplement
with a group from work. |
|
The
Ministry of Healing.
- written in the 1800's, a compeling argument of how and why
today's church should believe that Christ still heals today.
Includes many testimonials from those healed and from witnesses
to the healings. (Sorry,
there was no picture of the cover on Amazon.com) |
 |
Miracles.
- another C.S. Lewis (Rob's favorite author) classic. This one
discusses the possibility of miracles in the world. |
 |
The
Joyful Christian.
- a collection of C.S. Lewis writings. Many of these writings
are in Mere Christianity (listed below.) This is a more complete
collection, but Mere Christianity is presented in a more logical
sequence. |
 |
Hope
Springs Eternal : Surviving a Chronic Illness.
- by a man who has reversed the progress of his ALS.There are
many Bible verses quoted in his book, but there are also some
treatments that the medical community doesn't recognize. This
has been one of Marcy's best secular sources for hope. |

Christ,
the Healer
A truly remarkable book that explains God's desire and promise
to heal with many healing Bible verses cited and explained. |
 |
How
to Worship Jesus Christ
A book with what may be the worst marketing title in the world
- unbelievers don't want to know how to worship and believers
think they already do. This book tells you how to have a real,
personal, moment to moment relationship with the living Jesus
Christ. Written by Joseph Carroll, the leader of the Evangelical
Institute of Greenville and the man who gave Marcy an early
strong shot of Hope. |

Mere
Christianity
As an atheist, C.S. Lewis tried to disprove the existence
of God and ended up writing the ultimate logical case for
God and Christianity. It is full of messages that I need to
remind myself of daily.
