A better day
Marcy seemed to feel a little better yesterday after resting from night before last. She asked for Oxycodone at bedtime, trach secretions were minimal, and had she no breathing episodes.
Kara was here yesterday to care for her and fix her hair. This allowed me to go to Garland's house, get the motor home, drive it to the Opryland Hotel area of Nashville, and meet with Music City RV about their selling it on consignment for us. I left it with them for evaluation, so I don't know if the numbers will work, but I liked the people and the facility.
I got there a little early and, while looking around, met Greg McDougal, a man looking for a larger motor home for his Christian music ministry. 3 of his 4 sons were diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis and he is trying to build an allergen-free house for them. Greg's story here and on our Linkblog. After we exchanged stories, he wanted to give me all the cash he had in his pocket - he didn't know how much it was but he wanted to give it to us. When he tried to hand it to me, I told him he was in the same boat as we. But he insisted, saying God just whispered in his ear and told him to share His blessings. I thanked him (and God,) took the money and put it in my pocket without counting it.
When I got home I told Marcy the whole story and we counted it together. Marcy smiled her Holy Spirit smile and shared why: Wednesday she used her speech synthesizer's web connection to shop Home Depot for a new kitchen light. Our last few weeks have included outings to home stores but she hadn't seen one she liked. She found one on the Home Depot site. I wondered about the need and about the source of the money. I didn't say anything and ordered the light. And she didn't say anything and asked God for the money for that light fixture.
The cash that Greg gave us was $2.68 shy of the cost of the light!
Our friend Gina and her son Eric picked me up and gave me a ride back to Garland's. She followed me home to drop off stuff I took out of the motor home and to say Hi to Marcy. I checked in at home then rode up to Publix to pick up a couple of prescriptions for Marcy.
Yesterday Darcy went to a pool party (at the club house) that she hosted for Larsen, an old friend who has moved out of state and was in town visiting.
Matt worked from 2-10p then hung out with friends until home at 12:30.
Yesterday morning Marcy approved my column for this week.
Daily Prayer for others: Greg McDougal and his 3 sons (notes and links above.)
Daily Prayer for Marcy: Continued improvement. Total relief from pain and discomfort.
12,364 signatures on the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition petition. I plan to keep asking for signatures until we hear from producers of the show. It only takes 30 seconds to sign. Our extreme wish list here.
Still some openings in August's Dinner Calendar. (click to see.)
