3/31/06 Hemodialysis?

A couple of new things going on here and we haven't sent one of these updates in a while. If you have been reading our daily updates you already know much of the content of this email. (If you don't have a password or lost yours, just email me.)

Our last email in January told how we were waiting on a hospital bed. We got in, but the antifungals and antiparasitics that we tried didn't help Marcy and we made it home 1/27/06. We were finally able to get the Vfend (antifungal) approved by the new (Medicare Part D) insurance and Marcy has been taking that daily.

Marcy has been pretty much infection free since our release from the hospital in late January. We attribute this to prayer and a colloidal siver product from Deseret Biologicals called Smart Silver. She has been feeling pretty good and getting out once or twice a week.

Last night about 9:30 Dr. Reid called wanting to try something new: hemodialysis. This would involve using a dialysis machine like used with kidney dialysis, but would filter her blood through special charcoal filters to remove mycotoxins. He wants to do 5 consecutive days of 3 to 4 hours of treatment. We hope to do it on an outpatient basis. If our suspicions are correct and Marcy has a fungal infection that is throwing off toxins, this will not kill it. But the removal of the toxins should make her feel better and may let her show some improvement. Please pray with us for God's wisdom as we investigate this opportunity.

Marcy was able to make it to Darcy's Cotillion ball in early February.

Darcy looked beautiful for the Grand Ball for Cotillion. Our friend Susan came over with her daughter Caroline (and Caroline's friend) to help her get dressed and apply a little make up. Darcy wore one of Caroline's friend's dresses - Susan brought 6 from which Darcy could choose.

Our friend Judy and her daughter MacKenzie took Darcy to the Ball. Parents were not allowed in until 30 minutes before the end, but we were allowed to enter early to watch the kids dance a cha cha and to see their dance cards in action.

The last 20 minutes of the Ball was a parent dance. This is Darcy and me and the arm of one of the paparazzi.

Of course the day was all about Darcy, but Marcy was there (and Cricket, too.)

Our friend Carol was there - her daughter Lauren is the same age as Darcy and had her class at the same Grand Ball. Here are (l-r) Darcy, Cricket, Marcy, Carol, and Lauren.

Speaking of Darcy, Marcy wanted me to ask for Spring clothes for her, specifically for shorts and short sets size 12 to 14. If you or someone you know has some outgrown clothes, please email us .

Also, if you know someone looking for living room furniture, ask them to look at our furniture web page to see if this set fits their needs. At the bottom of the web page is a link to download a printable flyer.

I briefly mentioned in our 6/13/05 email update that I have written a screenplay that tells our story. Last November I submitted it to a Christian Script Contest. We recently heard that the screenplay was a semi-finalist. That means that out of hundreds of submissions from all over the world, mine finished in the top 30. Though this didn't win any prize money or get my script submitted to any producers, it does encourage me to dust it off and do more to try to get it produced. If you or someone you know can help find a way to get it seen, please email or call me and I'll send you a copy.

We are still blessed to be receiving dinners from friends but there are plenty of openings in April. Marcy's favorite recent dinner from the Food Network is stuffed shells from Paula Dean.

We continue to thank God every day for your prayer and care.

Love.
